About Art Dagny

Born in Reykjavík, Iceland in 1962, Dagny Erlingsdóttir is a contemporary painter whose work reflects a profound connection to nature and the shifting interplay between abstraction and realism.
Her artistic journey began at an early age and was later shaped by private studies in Northern Germany between 2002 and 2004. Drawing inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of her Icelandic heritage, Dagny’s paintings capture the subtle tension between stillness and movement, between the seen and the felt.
Working primarily with acrylics and occasionally oils, she explores form, color, and atmosphere to evoke emotional depth and quiet introspection. Her landscapes often convey the essence of Iceland’s light and texture, while her portrait work reveals a sensitivity to human expression and presence.
Dagny accepts commissioned projects, including custom pieces based on photographs. A curated selection of her available works can be viewed on this website.
